Our Visit

Our recent visit to Armands Beach in Southern NSW was nothing short of fantastic. Touted as one of NSW’s best ‘wild nude beaches’, it certainly lived up to our expectations. There are plenty of great nude beaches in NSW but this place is special. We picked a sunny weekend for our trip, discovering a beach alive with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, primarily frequented by couples enjoying the nude beach experience.

The journey to the beach is an easy 1km walk, with some parts requiring a bit of careful navigation. The destination, however, is worth every step. You’re greeted by a secluded, pristine beach with water so clear it looks like something out of a postcard, and sand that’s just perfect for lounging. The beach, though backed by wilderness, lacks shade, so bringing an umbrella is a good idea to avoid being burnt to a crisp.
The community vibe here is what really makes this beach so special. There’s a genuine sense of camaraderie, thanks in part to the efforts of the Armands Beach Leisure Group (ABLG) who really look after this place and have a bunch of events. We were surrounded by mostly couples, all respectful and engaging. The highlight was we spotted kangaroos hopping along the beach in the late afternoon, adding to the unique charm of this place. The locals also mentioned that it’s also a great spot for dolphin and whale watching.
As the afternoon progressed, a breeze picked up, but thankfully, the beach offers plenty of sheltered spots to protect from the wind. This made our experience even more enjoyable as we could continue to relax without having sand blown all over us.
Remember, there are no facilities here, so get prepped with everything you need for the day. The water was a tad chilly for swimming, but it was perfect for a quick, refreshing dip. It can be rough here but during our visit the waves were a perfect.
The beach is highly recommended, especially for newbies. Armands Beach is a great laid-back, natural nude beach experience. It’s a place where you can connect with nature and like-minded people in a serene and beautiful setting. Just keep an eye on the tides, pack smart, and you’re set for a wonderful day at one of the best nude beaches in Australia.

Getting There
Armands Beach is accessible via two main carparks. The upper carpark is located near the Barragga Bay Beach road sign, while the lower carpark is more suitable for 4WD vehicles and includes stairs for easier beach access. The walk back from the beach is uphill, but there are places to rest along the way. Be cautious with GPS directions, as they can be misleading. Kullaroo Road is the most reliable route to reach the beach. There's usually enough parking space on most days.
By Car: Getting to Armands Beach in Southern NSW is quite straightforward once you know the route. Starting from Bermagui, head south on the Tathra-Bermagui coast road. After about 8 km, you'll pass over the one-lane Cuttagee Lake bridge. Keep going for another 2 km and then make a left turn onto Kullaroo Road. This road can be a bit rough, but it leads directly to the beach's parking area, marked by an "Armands Bay Beach" sign.

There are two carparks one on the sealed road or you can go towards the headland on the dirt track you don’t need 4wd or anything. The beach is great to the left around the rocks you can collect shells and there are some sheltered spots if the wind gets up. Same at the other end of the beach. We saw a guy there there doing some nude surfing def on the bucket list.
