Hotel Nude stands as the OG in offering a naturist retreat in Zipolite, setting the stage for the unique vacation experience that this destination is known for. However, being the first of its kind doesn’t necessarily secure its place as the foremost option, especially as the landscape of accommodations in Zipolite has evolved significantly. The charm of Zipolite, with its diverse offerings, is undeniable – a deeper dive into its allure can be found HERE. The beach now hosts an array of lodging choices catering to various preferences and financial plans, ranging from budget-friendly hostels and hammocks to upscale condos equipped with private pools and hot tubs. Fortunately, the trend of all-inclusive resorts has yet to reach this part of Mexico, preserving the authentic and laid-back vibe of Zipolite.
Despite its pioneering status, Hotel Nude strikes a fine balance between luxury and practicality, though it’s not without its imperfections, which we’ll explore further on. Its beachfront setting is nothing short of spectacular, offering a serene escape from the nearby bustling village yet remaining within an easy stroll for enjoying a leisurely breakfast or dinner. For those seeking a more secluded spot, the tranquil cove by Hotel El Alquimista lies just a stone’s throw away. Opting for a beachside room grants you an immersive relaxing experience, with panoramic views and the soothing sounds of the waves right at your doorstep. Our stay in an oceanview room was enhanced by the expansive balcony, designed to blend seamlessly with the outdoors, offering a refreshing, airy feel. Although air conditioning is an option, we found the natural sea breeze to be more than sufficient, enjoying the rhythmic sound of the waves and the fresh ocean air at night. Even from our third-floor perch, sounds from the restaurant and bar below were audible, though hardly bothersome. The experience of watching the sunset over the sea from a private beach patio, especially in the buff, was truly unique. The hotel’s culture is quite open; many guests preferred the freedom of their balconies sans clothing, with a fairly even mix of clothed and unclothed guests along the beachfront. The poolside rooms, while more budget-friendly, don’t boast the stunning ocean vistas and can feel a bit less airy without the strong sea breeze. Our experience in these rooms necessitated more frequent use of the mosquito net. While these rooms represent a significant downgrade from those facing the beach, they remain a viable option for those looking to economize. The clothing-optional policy extends to all pool areas, with guest attire varying daily. Regardless of your choice to wear a swimsuit or not, the atmosphere remains welcoming and judgment-free, echoed by the staff’s nonchalant attitude. Dining at Hotel Nude’s restaurant was a pleasant experience, though not extraordinary. The lunch menu is a highlight, featuring a variety of classic mexican dishes. Dinner options, however, felt somewhat overpriced and the ambiance was less lively compared to the bustling main square. Still, the hotel’s proximity to Zipolite’s array of dining options means you’re never far from a delicious meal. Weekday evenings at Hotel Nude are typically calm and relaxed, but the weekends see a noticeable shift in energy. The arrival of Mexican tourists and DJs transformed the atmosphere, introducing vibrant music and dance into the early hours of Friday and Saturday. While this was unexpected, the hotel management’s gesture of complimentary drinks helped smooth the transition for us, hinting that they might have recognized our preference for quieter nights. These lively weekends also provided an opportunity to mingle with a diverse crowd of guests. In conclusion, Hotel Nude is an appealing choice for those who enjoy a lively pool club atmosphere, especially on weekends. While it may lack the refinement of Hotel El Alquimista, it offers a more relaxed, nude-friendly environment at a more accessible price point. If the budget allows, opting for a beachview room is highly recommended for an unparalleled experience. The friendly staff and the comfort in embracing nudity make Hotel Nude a place worth visiting.
