The Good
- Peaceful lakeside setting: Ågesta sits at the southern end of Lake Magelungen, surrounded by forest and greenery. It feels calm and separated from city life.
- Well-kept and organized: The beach is clean and maintained by the city. Basic amenities include toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and trash bins. Some visitors mention outdoor taps or simple showers.
- Relaxed atmosphere: The crowd is usually polite and respectful, with regulars who come to enjoy a quiet naturist space.
- Nature all around: Dense trees create shade and add privacy.
- Close to Stockholm: Only about 15 kilometers from the city center, easy to reach for a short getaway.
The Bad
- Tricky to find: Getting there involves a short bus ride from Farsta Strand and a 10–15 minute walk through wooded paths with limited signage.
- No food options: There are no cafés or stalls nearby, so bring your own snacks and drinks.
- Occasional inappropriate behavior: Some visitors have reported uncomfortable encounters in the wooded areas, so it’s better to stay in the main open space or visit with friends.
- Cold water: The lake can be chilly, especially outside peak summer.
The Naked Truth
Ågesta is Stockholm’s only official nude beach, a quiet lakeside spot where naturism blends naturally with the surroundings. The grassy and sandy shore is simple but pleasant, offering space to sunbathe, swim, and unwind in peace.
Facilities are basic but useful, and while the setting is peaceful, it’s not a full-service beach. The path to reach it can be a bit confusing, but once there, it’s straightforward and calm. Most visitors come for the quiet and the community feel rather than socialising or entertainment.
It’s best suited for people who value nature, simplicity, and a respectful naturist environment close to the city. It is a well known Swedish naturist beach.
Insider Tip
Bring food, water, and a towel to sit on. Plan your route in advance - the last stretch through the woods has limited signs.
