The Good

The Bad
- Difficult access: Short but steep trail with stairs and a ladder section makes it inaccessible for some people.
- Limited parking: Very few roadside spaces available near the trailhead.
- No facilities: No restrooms, water, or services — fully bring-your-own.
- Cold and windy: Humboldt coast weather can be chilly even on sunny days.
- Not ideal for swimming: Strong surf, rocks, and currents make ocean swimming risky.
- Occasional uncomfortable encounters: Some people have reported bad behavior from other visitors north of the rock. Stick to the main section and you should be fine.
The Naked Truth
Baker Beach is one of Humboldt County’s quiet, unofficial clothing-optional spots where the biggest reward is solitude and raw coastal beauty. The steep descent keeps crowds away, so when you reach the sand it often feels like your own private cove. On warm days, the relaxed vibe makes it easy to enjoy the freedom many visitors come for. Most people are nude just north of the small creek and overall the ratio is about 50/50 (nude to textile).
That said, it’s not a beginner beach. The ladder access, cold water, and rugged terrain mean this is more about scenery, sunbathing, and exploring than swimming. If you come prepared; warm layers, good shoes, and realistic expectations — it can be one of the most memorable nude beaches on California coast.

Getting There
Baker Beach is located just south of Trinidad, California, along Scenic Drive near the Humboldt County coast.
By Car: From Trinidad, follow Scenic Drive south along the coastline. Watch carefully for small roadside pullouts near the Baker Beach access trail. Parking is very limited, so arrive early if possible.
By Foot: From the roadside parking area, follow the short trail downhill toward the ocean. The path becomes steep near the end with stairs and a ladder-style structure leading down to the beach.
By Public Transportation: There is no public transportation directly to Baker Beach. A car is required to reach the trailhead.
