Nudity Policy
OPTIONALNudity strongly encouraged in naturist section
The Good
- Scenic walk: The trail from Makarska takes about 25–30 minutes through Osejava Forest Park, with beautiful sea views and pine trees along the way. It’s rocky in parts but easy enough with proper shoes.
- Dramatic setting: The beach sits between steep cliffs with forest behind, giving it a wild, natural feel that’s rare along the Makarska Riviera.
- Quiet in the evening: Crowds thin out later in the day, and the view at sunset is especially beautiful.
- Popular and accessible: Despite the walk, it’s well-known and reachable from both Makarska and Tučepi.
The Bad
- No facilities: No restrooms, food stalls, or freshwater. Visitors must bring everything they need.
- Crowded: Especially in summer, it fills quickly with both clothed and nude bathers. By afternoon, the beach can feel packed.
- Not fully naturist anymore: Nudity is now limited to a smaller section, and the majority of visitors remain clothed.
- Tricky access: Limited signs, rocky paths, and confusing turns make it easy to lose the way, especially on first visits.
The Naked Truth
Nugal Beach used to be one of Croatia's best known naturist beaches, but it has changed over time. Today it’s a mixed-use beach with a small naturist area and a larger textile crowd. What remains is the scenery, steep cliffs, pine forest, and bright blue water; giving the place a wild and remote feel even though it’s close to town.
Getting there is part of the experience: a 30-minute walk through forest paths with sea views, rocky in places but manageable. Once you arrive, there’s no shade, no shops, and no services, so it’s best for people who don’t mind simplicity.
The atmosphere is more busy than quiet these days, but it’s still a beautiful spot for swimming and photos, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.
Insider Tip
Go early or late to avoid crowds, bring sturdy shoes, water, and snacks, and don’t expect a full naturist experience, it’s now mostly mixed.
Who's Here
Textile beachgoers with a few naturists toward the back; mostly couples and travelers exploring the Makarska coast.
Beach Surface
Pebbly with rocky edges; water shoes recommended.

Getting There
Nugal Beach lies about 2 km south of Makarska.
From Makarska:
Start near Hotel Osejava and follow the forest trail through Osejava Park along the coast. The path is rocky but scenic, taking around 30 minutes.
From Tučepi:
You can also walk from Bluesun Hotel Jadran (about 45 minutes). Two paths lead there: one along the coast (more scenic but stonry), and one inland that’s easier underfoot.
By Car:
Park in Makarska (near Kaufland or Hotel Osejava) or Tučepi (near Bluesun Hotel Jadran). There’s no direct road access to the beach.
