Their Description
Perched high on a cliff overlooking Cufra Inlet, Cufra Cliffs offers a peaceful, “on top of the world” escape on Thetis Island, with sweeping west-facing views toward the mountains of Vancouver Island and unforgettable sunsets.
The accommodation is a private, self-contained cottage-style guest wing connected to the main house, featuring an open-plan living, dining, and kitchenette space, all surrounded by large windows that bring the landscape right into the room. Locally sourced wood from the property has been used throughout, adding to the natural, handcrafted feel.
The cottage includes a comfortable queen bedroom, a cozy living area with wood stove and modern heating/cooling, and a well-equipped kitchenette with everything needed for simple meals.
Outside, guests can relax in the cliff-edge hot tub, take in the views from the deck garden, or cool off in the swimming pool during warmer months.

Getting There
Getting to Cufra Cliffs feels like you’re heading somewhere properly off-grid — but it’s actually pretty straightforward once you know the route. You’ll be hopping over to Thetis Island via Vancouver Island, and the whole journey is part of what makes this place feel so removed (in a good way).
By Car:
From Vancouver, take BC Ferries from Tsawwassen to Duke Point (Nanaimo). From there, it’s about a 35-45 minute drive south to Chemainus, where you’ll catch the small ferry over to Thetis Island (Preedy Harbour) - the crossing is quick and runs regularly.
Alternate ferry runs to/from Thetis Island are either direct or stop at Penelakut Island on the way. Direct runs are approximately half an hour and just under an hour for runs that stop at Penelakut on the way.
Once you’re on Thetis, it’s an easy 10–15 minute drive to Cufra Cliffs. Roads are quiet and scenic, but a bit narrow in spots - just take it slow and enjoy it.
By Public Transport:
You can do this trip without a car, but it takes a bit of planning. Make your way to Vancouver Island first, then head to the Chemainus ferry terminal and walk onto the ferry to Thetis Island.
Once you arrive, there’s no real public transport on the island, so you’ll want to organise a pickup in advance with your hosts.
