Accommodation options range from well-appointed cottages to shaded camping pitches, all designed with comfort and privacy in mind. France4Naturisme hosted us at Domaine de la Sablière in June 2026. The resort is set in the Cèze gorges in southern France, and the landscape is unlike anywhere else we’ve stayed.
Because of the terrain, the resort is quite spread out and very hilly. You can walk between areas, but there’s usually a fairly steep climb involved somewhere along the way, so having a vehicle makes getting around much easier.
Our accommodation was modern, spacious and private, with a full kitchen and a really nice outdoor seating area. It felt like somewhere you could properly settle into for a few days rather than just use as a place to sleep.
There’s also a small market on site, which is especially useful because there aren’t really any towns or villages immediately nearby. We ate at the restaurants several times and were always impressed by the service and fresh food. Being able to grab takeaway and bring it down to the river for a picnic was a particularly nice touch.
The river area was easily our favourite part of Domaine de la Sablière.
At the bottom of the gorge, there’s a rocky beach along the Cèze River surrounded by huge cliff faces. The water was warm, calm and slow-moving during our stay, and the whole setting feels incredibly peaceful. We ended up spending a lot of time down there, swimming, having picnics and just enjoying the scenery.
If you prefer pools, there’s plenty on offer too. The main pool area is modern and spacious, with a deeper swimming pool, a kids’ pool with a slide and water features, plus another pool with larger waterslides. Our little one had plenty to keep him entertained.
There are two restaurant options on site. One is near the main pool area and has a good menu focused on fresh ingredients, while the other sits on the way down towards the river. We had good meals at both.
What really makes Domaine de la Sablière special, though, is the setting. The hills, cliffs and river give the resort a completely different feel to anywhere else we’ve stayed.
We didn’t leave the property once during our stay, and honestly, we never felt like we needed to. Between the river, pools, food and scenery, we were perfectly happy staying right where we were.

Getting There
Domaine de la Sablière is nestled in the heart of the Cèze gorges, between Provence and the Gard region in southern France, offering a peaceful, secluded atmosphere surrounded by nature.
By Car:
The campsite is about a 40-minute drive from Alès or just over an hour from Avignon. From Avignon, take the N580 and D980 towards Bagnols-sur-Cèze, then follow signs to Barjac. From Barjac, continue toward Saint-Privat-de-Champclos and follow the signs for Domaine de la Sablière. The final stretch winds through the hills, so take your time—it’s worth the journey.
By Public Transport:
The nearest train stations are Alès (40 km) and Avignon TGV (75 km). From there, you can rent a car or take a taxi to reach the campsite. Public buses to Barjac are limited, so pre-arranged transport or car hire is highly recommended.
By Air:
Nearby airports include Nîmes–Alès–Camargue–Cévennes Airport (90 km), Avignon-Provence Airport (95 km), and Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport (130 km). All offer car hire services, and driving from any of them will take between 1.5 and 2 hours.
Once on-site, you’ll find everything within walking distance—riverside paths, accommodation, pools, and activities are all tucked into the same beautiful valley.
