- Nice Facilities and Loungers: There are well-maintained facilities such as restrooms and shower areas. The addition of comfortable loungers means you can soak up the sun in comfort.
- Taverna offering local food and drinks: Sample authentic Greek cuisine and refreshing beverages, you can even enjoy them from your lounger if you wish.
- Free Parking: While limited parking is available it is right on the beach
The Bad
- Rocky Beach: Bring water shoes for comfort as the shores are a little rocky and require navigating.
- Limited Shuttle Service: If you're staying at the nearby Vritomartis Naturist Resort, be aware that the shuttle service to the beach only operates in the morning and later in the afternoon.
- Crowded with Vritomartis Guests: Given its proximity to the Vritomartis Naturist Resort, Filaki Beach can get quite crowded, especially during peak holiday seasons. The crowds is mostly resort guests here.
- Mandatory Nudity: Lastly, it's worth noting that nudity is mandatory at Filaki Beach. So be prepared to strip off or you might be asked to leave.

The Naked Truth
Filaki Beach isn’t for those shy about clothing optional beaches, it is understood that those going to this beach will be nude. Most of the other people who go to this beach are tourists from the naturist resort and keep to themselves. The beach itself is stunning with calm blue water and worth the effort. At least you will be guaranteed to be surrounded by other people sans clothing here!
Insider Tip
If you want the beach to yourself, wait until the last hotel shuttle leaves in the afternoon around 4pm.

This is one of our favourite nude beaches in Greece. It's quiet, yet friendly and welcoming. The taverna staff, who also manage the beach loungers and tables, are incredibly affable and communicate well in English.

Although Filaki Beach is affiliated with the nearby Vritomartis Naturist Resort, it's open to the public. It's well-known in the community, and its naturist ethos is respected by all. The beach itself is naturally beautiful, with calm, warm, and clear water. However, it is rocky, so we recommend water shoes, though they're not mandatory.
The beach is quite large, offering loungers for rent. Nearby, there's a cliff face that provides some shade and a more secluded spot. The shoreline also features large rocks, offering a unique place to sit. Almost everyone here is from the nearby resort and you won't see any boats visit the beach like other nearby locations. So it feels more exclusive and private.
The adjacent Vritomartis Resort is a fantastic place to stay, offering a clean and secure hotel experience with friendly staff and engaging activities, including boat excursions! The beach taverna offers an array of local dishes and drinks. We particularly recommend the tzatziki and the moussaka. Alpha beer, too, is readily available and highly refreshing on a hot Cretan day! They will bring it to wherever you are sitting on the beach if you wish.

Getting There
Those staying at the Vrtiomartis Naturist Resort will have a shuttle available to them. It runs in the mornings and later in the afternoon. It is walkable in about 20 minutes from the resort but bring water and wear a hat as it is very hot! There is a parking lot at the taverna which is on the beach.
By Car: The beach is a quick 10minute drive outside of Sfakia. Turnoff to Vritomartis Resort but instead of going right, take the turnoff to the left and keep following the road to the left. Beware the road is skinny and the mini bus that makes regular trips to the resort can be quite wide.
Recommended Accommodation
Filaki Beach is located close to Vritomartis Nudist Resort - so it makes sense to stay here if you're planning a trip to this region. Otherwise your only options for hotels or Airbnbs are in nearby Sfakia.
