The Good

  • Peaceful Lake Setting: Located by a beautiful lake with calm water and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
  • Dedicated Naturist Area: A clearly defined space where nudity is expected and generally respected by visitors.
  • Uncrowded Environment: Typically not very busy, offering plenty of room to relax and swim freely.
  • Facilities Available: Includes a dry toilet, trash bins, jetty, and small platforms for easy water access.
  • Nature Walk Access: A scenic, shaded walk of about 300 meters leads to the bathing area.
  • Respectful Community: Visitors are generally considerate and maintain a calm, non-intrusive environment.

The Bad

  • Rule Confusion: Some visitors do not follow the nudity requirement, which can affect the overall atmosphere.
  • Limited Sunlight: Evening sun can disappear early behind trees, reducing sunbathing time.
  • Insects: Ants can be noticeable around the area.
  • No Camping Allowed: Overnight stays are prohibited, which may limit longer visits.
  • Occasional Disturbance: People passing by on canoes or pedal boats sometimes disrupt the privacy.
  • Shared Area Nearby: A larger public (textile) bathing area nearby can lead to overlap or confusion.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Fjällnora Naturistbad is a designated nude swimming area located within a larger recreational lake setting near Uppsala. The naturist section is set slightly apart from the main public bathing area, creating a quieter space where visitors can enjoy swimming and sunbathing without clothing.

The atmosphere is generally relaxed and respectful, with most visitors following naturist etiquette. However, because of its proximity to a larger public beach, there can occasionally be people who are unaware of or do not follow the clothing rules. Clearer signage would help maintain the intended experience.

Despite this, the location remains a favorite for those seeking a peaceful naturist spot in nature. With simple facilities, a scenic walk-in approach, and calm lake waters, it offers a balanced mix of accessibility and tranquility. This is a recommended nude beach in Sweden.

Insider Tip

Bring a picnic and stay into the evening. Most day visitors leave in the late afternoon, and on warm summer evenings Fjällnora becomes much quieter and more relaxed.

Who's Here

Visitors are mostly locals from Uppsala, with a mix of regular naturists, solo visitors (often men), and occasional couples.

Beach Surface

The area consists of grassy and natural ground with wooden jetties and platforms for entering the lake. The water is calm and suitable for swimming.

Access Difficulty

Moderate: Access involves a short but pleasant walk of around 300 meters from the parking area through a shaded forest path.
