Nudity Policy
OPTIONALNudity typical (official FKK zone)
The Good
- Beautiful natural setting with space to breathe: A wide sandy lakeside beach framed by lush green forest and walking trails. The scenery genuinely feels like a nature escape just outside the city. It's truly one of the best naturist beaches in Germany out there.
- Well-maintained nudist-only stretch: The FKK section is clearly separated from the textile beach and offers a large, clean, sandy area with both sunny zones and shaded grassy areas under trees.
- Sports and movement-friendly: There is a dedicated beach volleyball court frequently used by nudists, plus walking trails nearby for longer strolls.
- Free entry and facilities available: No entrance fee, and on-site toilets are available. Ice cream, coffee, and drinks are accessible in the adjacent textile area.
- Panoramic, “vacation-like” atmosphere: When conditions are right, the view across Müggelsee gives a relaxed holiday feeling without leaving Berlin.
The Bad
- High foot traffic near the FKK zone: Despite official markings, the location sits along busy walking paths. People with dogs, tourists, and organized groups often pass through, reducing the sense of privacy.
- Water quality issues: The lake often struggles with algae, murky water, and slimy lake floor conditions. Swimming quality varies greatly depending on season and weather.
- Very shallow entry: The water remains knee-deep for a long distance. You may need to walk 150 to 500 meters to reach real swimming depth.
- Parking is extremely difficult: There is virtually no parking within one kilometer, guardrails block roadside parking, and camping is strictly forbidden.
- Outdated and neglected structures: Several buildings nearby are in visibly poor condition, which affects the overall vibe.
- Crowd misuse during peak season: During high season, the naturist population of 5 to 10 people is often overwhelmed by 10 to 20 clothed visitors, especially in early July.
- Can feel uncomfortable for solo female visitors: Due to enforcement behavior, clothed onlookers, and mixed misuse of the space, many women may not feel fully at ease at all times.
The Naked Truth
FKK Strandbad Müggelsee is official, legal, and very Berlin; but it’s not secluded. Nudity here is normal and expected in the marked zone, yet the setting sits right on popular walking paths, which means privacy is fragile. On a good weekday, it can feel relaxed and traditional; on busy summer days, clothed passersby often outnumber actual naturists, and that breaks the spell fast.
Swimming is hit-or-miss. The lake is shallow, sometimes slimy, and algae can make the water uninviting. This beach works best as a sunbathing, social, and light-activity FKK spot, not a serious swimming destination. If you’re comfortable with nudity being visible to walkers and want a free, easy-access naturist beach close to the city, it delivers. If you’re looking for quiet, protected naturism, timing is everything; or you’ll be disappointed.
Insider Tip
If you are seeking a quiet, traditional naturist experience, visit on weekdays in May or early mornings outside of peak summer. The official textile beach right next door is a better option if privacy becomes compromised.
Who's Here
Naturist singles, couples and families. During summer textiles will occasionally use the FKK section (which annoys naturists).
Beach Surface
Large sandy beach area with sections of grass and tree shade above. Some parts of the shoreline contain sharp, small stones that can be uncomfortable underfoot. The lake floor can feel slimy in warmer months.
Access Difficulty
Very easy. This is one of the most accessible FKK beaches in the Berlin area with public transport stopping just steps from the entrance.

Getting There
FKK Strandbad Müggelsee is located on the eastern edge of Berlin, on the shore of Müggelsee, right next to the textile Müggelsee beach.
By Public Transport: Take Tram 61 and get off at “Licht- und Luftbad Müggelsee.” From the stop, it’s about a 100-meter walk to the entrance of the FKK area. This is the best and easiest way to reach the beach.
By Car: Drive toward Köpenick / Müggelsee and follow signs for Licht- und Luftbad Müggelsee. Parking is very limited and usually requires a 10–15 minute walk from wherever you manage to park. Roadside parking is heavily restricted.
