The Good
- Cove progression layout: The beach unfolds in a sequence of small bays, each with a different feel. The first has loungers and a bar, then it gradually shifts into quieter, more natural coves. By the second and third coves, it becomes a relaxed naturist space with much more privacy.
- Hidden naturist section: The main naturist area sits behind and beyond the Mocambo setup, partially shielded by rocks. It stays out of direct view from the main loungers, which creates a more comfortable and natural atmosphere for staying unclothed.
- Snorkeling clarity: The water here is exceptionally clear and full of fish, especially around the rocky edges between coves. It’s one of those spots where you actually want to stay in the water longer than on land.
- Natural separation: The rock formations between coves act like natural walls, breaking up the space. Each bay feels like its own pocket, so you can always find a quieter spot even when the front area has people.
- Swim to secluded cove: There’s an extra hidden bay that can only be reached by a short swim. It adds a small sense of adventure and gives you a completely undisturbed space if you’re up for it.
- Relaxed social vibe: People here tend to be easygoing and respectful, especially in the back coves. It feels more like a shared understanding than a formal setup.
The Bad
- Rocky navigation: Moving between coves means walking over uneven rocks, which can be tricky if you’re not steady on your feet. It’s not a casual stroll, especially under the sun.
- Pebble heavy ground: Like much of Samos, the surface is mostly stones and pebbles. Lying down comfortably usually means bringing something with padding.
- Inconsistent nudity levels: Even though it’s known as a naturist spot, the first cove is fully clothed and even the back areas can vary depending on the crowd.
- Limited facilities beyond first cove: Once you leave the Mocambo area, there are no services at all. No toilets, no shade structures, nothing except the natural setting.
- Access depends on effort: The best parts of the beach require walking, climbing, or even swimming. If you stay in the first cove, you miss most of what makes this place special.
- Signage confusion: The beach is often labeled as Mocambo rather than Fournaki, which can make it slightly confusing when navigating.
The Naked Truth
Fournaki is basically two different beaches in one.
The area around the beach bar is the busiest and most social, with loungers, drinks and more people coming and going. If you’re looking for the quieter, more naturist side of Fournaki, keep walking past the rocks.
The further you go, the smaller and quieter the coves become. The rocks give each section a bit of privacy, and the back coves feel much more relaxed than the main beach.
It takes a little more effort to reach the quieter sections, but that’s also what makes them better. If you’re coming here to swim, strip off and get away from the busier part of the beach, keep going past the first cove. This is a recommended nude beach in Samos.
Insider Tip
Walk past the Mocambo area and keep going until the loungers disappear, that’s where the naturist-friendly coves begin. Bring water shoes for the rocks, plenty of water, and snorkel gear because the underwater life is one of the highlights. Earlier in the day gives you more choice of quiet spots before others spread out across the coves.
Who's Here
Mostly relaxed couples, solo travelers, and a handful of regulars who already know which cove they prefer.
Beach Surface
A mix of stones and pebbles with rocky sections between coves that you’ll need to step over.
Access Difficulty
Moderate since reaching the best coves involves walking over uneven rocks and sometimes swimming short distances.

Getting There
Fournaki Beach is located in Votsalakia on the southwest coast of Samos, Greece.
By car or on foot: Drive toward Mocambo beach bar and park there, as it’s the main access point. From the bar, walk across the rocks and follow the coastline to reach the quieter coves further along.
By public transport: There is no direct public transport drop-off at Fournaki Beach itself. The closest routes stop in Votsalakia, and from there you will still need to walk a fair distance toward Mocambo and continue on foot along the rocky shoreline to reach the coves.
