The Good
- Popular but not busy: It’s clear this is a good beach by the lack of resorts and tourists on it! It’s very popular among locals.
- Available shade: There are shady spots and sunny, fewer options when the tide is high though.
- Perfect water: This water had a bit of a wave to it but the temperature and cleanliness was perfect
- Naturist Friendly: Judging by the signage on the beach and the textiles not bothered by nudity - it's clear this is a well known and respected naturist beach.
The Bad
- Can appear rough: When you first look at the beach it appears a bit dirty but it’s just driftwood that’s washed ashore.
- High tide: When the tide is high spots can be limited
- Limited parking: The street looks sketchy and so does the walk. But it is perfectly safe. However parking isn't developed and you may need to walk a little to get here.
The Naked Truth
Hidden Beach in Varna lives up to its name. This is clearly popular among locals and there are few tourists around. This is a great spot for an urban nudist beach and easy to find. Parking can be a little tricky.
Unlike Nirvana Beach in nearby touristy Golden Sands, this Bulgarian nude beach does not cater to tourists and there are no facilities. It is popular with locals and very laidback. Like the rest of the country, nude swimmers and textiles co-exist peacefully at this beach. We highly recommend Hidden Beach Varna for an authentic urban naturist experience.

This beach visit was a surprisingly positive one. We weren’t quite sure what to expect given how close it is to the main textile beach, but the vibe ended up being really respectful and low-key. Everyone seemed to keep to themselves, and there was a nice sense of unspoken understanding between beachgoers.
It was a bit tricky to track down using Google Maps, and we definitely second-guessed ourselves on the way in. But once you find the staircase, it all makes sense - you can head either left or right past the textile section to reach the more naturist-friendly areas.
We chose to go right and ended up finding a great little spot tucked under the trees, which gave us some much-needed shade. It felt a bit more secluded in that direction too, with fewer people and a quieter atmosphere overall.
The water wasn’t at its best when we visited - it was a bit rough and slightly murky after a storm the day before - but we’re told that’s not the norm and it’s usually much calmer and clearer. One thing to watch is the tide, which seemed to come in pretty quickly and caught us off guard, forcing a bit of a mid-afternoon relocation.
What stood out most was how relaxing and tranquil it felt, especially considering you’re right in the middle of Varna. It’s not a polished, resort-style beach like nearby Nirvana Beach by any means, but that’s part of the charm.
There aren’t any real amenities down there, so it’s worth coming prepared with your own food, drinks, and anything else you might need for a few hours.
We were staying nearby at Hotel Amfora (highly recommend!) and had a rental car, which made getting around Varna, and finding spots like this, much easier.
Hidden Beach is a great local naturist beach and one of the best urban nude beaches in Bulgaria. Highly recommended.

Getting There
Varna’s “Hidden Beach” sits just north of the main city beaches, tucked below the cliffs near the edge of Saltanat Park. It’s surprisingly close to town, but once you’re down there, it feels completely removed.
By Car:
Drive toward the Sea Garden (Primorski Park) and continue north toward Saltanat Park and the Dolphinarium. A good reference point is Restaurant Saint Nicolas - there’s a small alley nearby where you can usually find tight parking against the trees.
From there, walk toward the coastline and look for narrow dirt paths along the cliff edge. The access points aren’t signposted, but you’ll typically spot worn trails within a few minutes.
As you follow the path, you’ll come across a brick fence line - keep going, and you’ll eventually find a well-constructed metal staircase that leads directly down to the beach.
The walk takes around 5–10 minutes. It’s short but can be uneven and a little steep in sections, especially closer to the bottom.
By Public Transport:
Take a bus toward the Dolphinarium or Sea Garden - most routes from central Varna will get you close. From there, it’s about a 10–15 minute walk north through Saltanat Park toward the coastline.
You can either follow the same path down from the cliffs or, if you’re already on the main beach, walk north along the shoreline until you reach the more secluded section.
