Nudity Policy

OPTIONAL

Nudity is optional (mixed textile & FKK)

The Good

  • A quiet local escape surrounded by nature: Kaulsdorfer Baggersee, also known as Habermannsee, feels like a hidden lake oasis east of Berlin. Surrounded by forest, reeds, and open meadows, it offers a genuine nature break from city noise. It's one of the best naturist beaches in Germany.
  • Clear, refreshing water on hot days: Many visitors praise the clean, cool water, making it a great spot for a quick swim during summer heat.
  • Family-friendly in many areas: With sandy patches, shade from trees, and calm water, it can be enjoyable for families. Children love digging, playing, and splashing along the shore.
  • Clothing-optional with mutual respect: The lake is divided naturally into mixed textile areas and a traditional naturist side. Both groups generally coexist calmly and respectfully.
  • Great for relaxed activities: Locals come mostly for swimming, dog walking, fishing, picnics, and quiet sunbathing. Swans often glide across the water, adding to the peaceful mood.

The Bad

  • Overcrowded on weekends: Sundays and hot summer days can get very busy. The small sandy areas quickly fill up, making it hard to find a comfortable spot.
  • Poor visitor behavior in some areas: Unleashed dogs, dog waste, broken branches, littering, and even people harassing wildlife (including chasing geese with toy boats) are recurring problems.
  • No guaranteed facilities: Despite some mixed reports, there are generally no reliable toilets, shops, or food stalls directly at the lake. You must bring everything with you.
  • Parking fines are common: Parking is limited, enforcement is strict, and fines are frequent if you park incorrectly.
  • Not ideal for small children in all zones: Reports of aggressive behavior, noise, and poor supervision make some parts unsuitable for very young kids.
  • Protected environment being damaged: Although it is part of a protected landscape and drinking water zone, illegal swimming, trash, and misuse continue to harm the ecosystem.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Kaulsdorfer Baggersee (Habermannsee) is a local, no-frills lake, not a polished beach destination. Nudity is normal on one side and mixed elsewhere, but it’s casual and unspoken; no signs, no separation fences, just locals who know where to go. When it’s quiet, it feels genuinely peaceful and very Berlin: swim, lie down, leave.

The problem is people. On hot weekends it gets crowded fast, behavior slips, dogs run loose, trash appears, and the calm disappears. There are no services to save you; no toilets, no food, no staff, so you’re on your own. If you go early on a weekday, it’s lovely. If you go Sunday afternoon in July, it can be chaos.

Insider Tip

Visit early in the morning on a weekday for the quietest experience. Bring all food, drinks, trash bags, and water with you, and avoid peak summer weekends if you want peace and space.

Who's Here

Mostly locals from Kaulsdorf and nearby districts, dog walkers, swimmers, naturists, couples, teenagers, and small family groups. International tourists are rare.

Beach Surface

A mix of small sandy patches, grassy edges, muddy shores, and reed-lined banks. Some shaded areas under trees are excellent for hot days, but the sandy space is limited.

Access Difficulty

Moderate: The lake is located around 30 to 40 minutes from Berlin city center, depending on transport. Parking can be tricky during busy periods.
