The Good
- Great summer destination: Lake Remerschen is one of Luxembourg’s biggest and most popular beach-style swimming spots, combining a man-made lake, green areas, and plenty of space for families and groups.
- Many zones to choose from: There are separate areas for kids, general beach users, dog owners, and even a designated nude section on the opposite side of the lake. Everyone can settle where they’re most comfortable.
- Clean water and good maintenance: Visitors consistently mention clear, fresh water and well-maintained beaches. Sand areas are pleasant, and the environment is kept in good shape throughout the season.
- Lots of activities: Volleyball courts, football areas, picnic and BBQ zones, boat rentals (kayaks, pedalos, SUPs), and even long-distance swimming with a buoy. Great for both active days and lazy sunny afternoons.
- Beautiful natural surroundings: Around the lake are peaceful walking paths, birdwatching areas, shaded woodland routes, and access to the Biodiversum nature center. It’s an excellent place to enjoy nature beyond the beach.
The Bad
- Closes early (6 PM): Many visitors find the early closing time restrictive, especially during summer when it stays bright well into the evening.
- Entry fees and extra charges: Adult entry costs about €5–6, and extras like sunbeds (€5) or mandatory armbands for young children add up. Some feel the cost is high for what’s offered.
- Crowded on sunny days: The beach area is not very large, so arriving early is essential for a good spot. Peak days can feel cramped despite the spacious surroundings.
- Toilets can be disappointing: Some reviews mention portable-style toilets lacking water, soap, and cleanliness; below expectations for a site this size.
- Limited shade in some areas: Especially on the dog side, where there is mostly grass with very little shade and only a couple of huts.
- Not ideal for toddlers on the dog beach: The layout and lack of visibility toward the water make certain areas less child-friendly.
The Naked Truth
Lake Remerschen (Baggerweier) is less about wild escape and more about shared summer life done well. It’s organized, lively, and clearly designed for people who want a full beach-day experience; swimming, picnics, sports, and nature; all in one place. The naturist area exists as part of that bigger picture: clearly designated, generally calm, and respected, but never fully separate from the family-friendly energy of the lake.
On hot days it feels busy, social, and structured, with rules, closing hours, and paid entry shaping the experience. If you arrive early, choose your zone carefully, and accept the managed feel, it’s an enjoyable and well-kept place to spend a summer day; where naturism fits comfortably alongside towels, kids, dogs, and volleyball nets rather than standing apart from them.
There aren't a huge amount of naturist spots in Luxembourg but this is a decent spot to strip off.
Insider Tip
If you prefer quieter relaxation, walk farther around the lake toward the nature trails or the nude area, which tends to be calmer.
Who's Here
Families, groups of friends, swimmers, picnickers, nature lovers, dog owners, and beach-day regulars. The designated nude area usually attracts peaceful naturists who appreciate the calm environment.
Beach Surface
A mix of sandy beach and grassy areas. The sand is pleasant but limited in size, so early arrival helps.
Access Difficulty
Easy: Parking is spacious and free, though you may have to walk farther if you arrive late on busy weekends.
