Nudity Policy

The Good
- Spectacular scenery: Little Tribune has soft white sand, clear shallow water, and scenic rock/sandstone formations, giving great photo opportunities.
- Warm-summer swimming: In summer the bay warms up nicely; many visitors say the water is warm enough for long swims.
- Privacy and naturist culture: Little Tribune is well known as Hornby Island’s nude beach. Most visitors go nude there with no hassles. It’s an accepted norm locally
- Closer to essentials: Even though there are no facilities on the beach, Hornby Island has nearby shops, markets and services, so you can stock up before heading in.
The Bad
- Minimal amenities: No confirmed restrooms, shade, showers or food vendors directly at Little Tribune, so bring what you’ll need.
- Access effort required: Need ferries + drive across Hornby + gravel/smaller roads + a walk to reach the beach. Not super remote but not just “park and walk” either.
- Exposure to weather: Because of its exposure, wind can pick up, making conditions chillier when water’s calm.
- No lifeguards / supervision: Swimming is at your own risk.
The Naked Truth
Little Tribune Bay Beach is much loved by naturists and people seeking a relaxed, free-spirited beach day. Nudity is not officially legislated but is tolerated and widely practiced, especially at quieter times. It’s not about rules or signs; it’s about the atmosphere and respect among visitors.
If you go wanting simplicity, calm, and nature, Little Tribune delivers beautifully; just come prepared. It is a quiet haven compared to most nude beaches in British Columbia, including the well known Wreck Beach.
Insider Tip
Go early for quieter times. Come with all essentials (snacks, water, shade). Check ferry schedules and weather, especially wind.
