Nudity Policy

OPTIONAL

Nudity is optional but recommended (official naturist beach)

The Good

  • Clearly designated naturist beach: Mandomata is officially labeled as a nudist beach, which removes any awkwardness or uncertainty for visitors.
  • Clean, warm, and swimmable water: The sea is very clean, warm, and inviting, especially in the morning hours, making it one of the best naturist beaches you can visit in Greece.
  • Useful on-site facilities: The beach has clean toilets, warm showers, and a small tavern serving food and drinks at reasonable prices. Free Wi-Fi is available near the restaurant, which is a nice bonus for a relatively secluded beach.
  • Flexible beach layout: There is a structured area with sunbeds and umbrellas near the tavern, as well as a more natural, free-style section toward the end of the beach.

The Bad

  • Rocky sea entrance: While the beach itself is sandy, much of the entry into the water is rocky and uneven. Water shoes are highly recommended to avoid discomfort when getting in and out of the sea.
  • High sunbed prices: Sunbeds and umbrellas are noticeably expensive compared to many other Greek beaches, especially during peak season. This can be frustrating for visitors who only want basic shade and plan to swim more than sunbathe.
  • Mixed comfort levels depending on location: The far end of the beach is more male-dominated and sometimes used for cruising, which may feel uncomfortable for some visitors.
  • Limited close parking: Parking spaces near the beach fill up quickly around midday. Late arrivals may need to park farther uphill and walk down.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Mandomata is the real deal, not a hidden cove or a “tolerated” naturist situation. Nudity is normal, expected, and clearly signposted, which removes tension and makes the experience straightforward from the moment you arrive. The central part of the beach feels social but relaxed, with people swimming, eating, chatting, and settling in for long, comfortable days. It’s easy, safe, and beginner-friendly as long as you stay in the main area.

That said, this is not a “pure wilderness” naturist experience. Prices for sunbeds can feel steep, and the atmosphere changes as you move away from the tavern; the far end becomes more male-dominated and can feel awkward if you’re not looking for that energy. Water shoes are practically essential, and parking can test your patience after late morning. If you arrive early, stay central, and know what kind of vibe you want, Mandomata delivers exactly what it promises.

Insider Tip

Arrive early in the morning to enjoy calmer water, easier parking, and a quieter atmosphere. If you want shade without paying for sunbeds, the far right side of the beach offers some natural cover, but choose your spot carefully based on the crowd you are comfortable with.

Who's Here

A wide mix of naturists, including couples, solo travelers, LGBTQ+ visitors, and some families. The crowd becomes more male-heavy toward the end of the beach, while the central area remains more balanced.

Beach Surface

The upper beach is mostly sandy and comfortable for laying towels. The water entry is a mix of sand and rocks, with a clearer seabed once you move a few meters out.

Access Difficulty

Easy and straightforward, with a short walk from parking or from Faliraki town.

Getting There

Mandomata Beach is located just south of Faliraki on the east coast of Rhodes, Greece.

By Car: From Rhodes Town, drive south on the Rhodes–Lindos road (EO95) toward Faliraki. Once in Faliraki, follow signs toward Kathara Beach, then continue along the coastal road past the resort area until you see signs for Mandomata / Naturist Beach. Turn onto the narrow access road leading uphill to the clifftop parking area. Parking is limited, especially after midday. From the parking area, a short marked path leads downhill to the beach in about one minute.

By Public Transport: Buses run frequently between Rhodes Town and Faliraki. Get off in Faliraki town, then walk along the coast toward Kathara Beach and continue south for approximately 15–20 minutes until you reach Mandomata. There is no direct bus stop at the beach itself, but the walk is straightforward once you are in Faliraki.
