The Good

  • Long open coastline: Mykali stretches for over 3 kilometers, so it never feels boxed in. You can walk far in either direction and still find your own space away from the main clusters.
  • Crystal clear water: The sea here is consistently clear, with visible fish and a clean blue tone. It’s especially good for relaxed swimming and casual snorkeling along the edges.
  • Wind protected feel: Compared to other parts of Samos, this beach is more sheltered from strong winds. Even on breezy days, the water usually stays calm without heavy waves.
  • Choice of setup: The central area is organized with sunbeds and beach bars, but the far ends stay quiet and natural. You can easily switch between comfort and isolation depending on your mood.
  • Water activities available: Parts of the beach offer water sports like jet ski and boat rentals. It adds a bit of energy if you want more than just swimming.
  • Views across the strait: On clear days, you can see the Turkish coastline across the water. It gives the whole place a wider, more open horizon.

The Bad

  • Pebble dominant surface: The beach is covered in medium sized pebbles, which can be uncomfortable without proper footwear. It’s not the kind of place you lie down directly on the ground.
  • Scattered organization: Facilities are mostly concentrated in the middle, so once you walk away, there’s nothing around. You need to plan ahead if you want a quieter spot.
  • Limited natural shade: There are only a few shaded areas, so most protection from the sun comes from rented umbrellas.
  • Can feel exposed: Because the beach is wide and open, there’s less of that hidden or tucked away feeling you get in smaller coves.
  • Mixed crowd density: The central stretch can get busy, especially during peak hours, while the edges feel almost empty. The shift can feel uneven.
  • Not a strong naturist identity: While you can go further out for more privacy, there’s no clear or established naturist section like other beaches on the island.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Mykali is a long pebble beach on the southeast coast of Samos, with clear water and plenty of room to spread out.

The central section is the busiest, with sunbeds and more organised beach areas. If you keep walking away from the main section, it becomes much quieter and more suitable for nude sunbathing.

It’s not the most secluded naturist spot on Samos, and the pebble shoreline won’t suit everyone, but the big advantage is space. Even when the main beach is busy, it’s usually possible to find a quieter section further along.

The water is generally calm and clear, making it a good option for swimming.

Mykali is worth checking out if you want an easy, spacious beach rather than a tiny hidden cove. You can find more nude beaches in Samos on Nude Beach Map.

Insider Tip

Walk past the main organized area if you want a quieter and more flexible spot. Bring water shoes for the pebbles and your own shade if you’re not renting. Mid morning or late afternoon gives you the best balance between light, space, and comfort.

Who's Here

A mix of families near the center, with quieter couples and independent travelers spreading out toward the edges.

Beach Surface

Medium sized pebbles across most of the beach with a gradual entry into clear water.

Access Difficulty

Easy since the beach is reachable by road with parking and direct access to the shoreline.
