Our Visit

My friend and I, two local ladies, decided to finally check out Nipple Point Beach after hearing so much about it. Living in the area, we were still a bit unsure about the vibe and what to expect. We parked on the side of the highway, which was pretty straightforward. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived early in the season, but I can see how parking could get tricky during peak times. There are no facilities nearby this beach, so be sure to stock up on supplies at nearby Salmon Arm or Sicamous.
The walk down to the beach was quite an adventure. We carefully crossed the train tracks, mindful of the frequent trains. Thankfully, none stopped while we were there, but we did hear from a friendly beachgoer about a recent incident. Apparently, a train had derailed the previous weekend, blocking the tracks for hours. People were stuck for about four hours, and some even risked climbing over the train to get to their cars – definitely not something I’d recommend! Once we got to the beach, we were greeted by a peaceful scene with not much shoreline left due to the season. The beach is mainly made up of small pebbles and rocks, and several small streams run along the beach from the nearby mountain. The streams create a buildup of slime on the rocks, making them quite slippery, so be careful when walking around. The water was absolutely freezing – definitely nipple-freezing cold! Despite that, the place had a serene and calming atmosphere. We noticed the LGBTQ crowd hanging out further up the beach, and there were some solo older men and younger couples scattered around where we decided to sit. Everyone seemed very chill and welcoming, which put us at ease. The regulars at Nipple Point are friendly and accepting of new people, making it easy for us to feel comfortable. As newbie nudists, we were a bit nervous at first, but seeing others so relaxed made us comfortable enough to join in. The regular freight trains passing by were the only thing that occasionally broke the tranquility, but even that didn’t bother us much. We were careful to keep an eye out while crossing the tracks and felt lucky none stopped while we were there. Someone at the beach told us it’s not uncommon for trains to stop for extended periods, so always be prepared just in case. A few boats and houseboats passed by, but nothing intrusive enough to make us put our clothes back on. It was quite liberating and a lot more enjoyable than we had expected. The view of Bastion Mountain from the beach is simply stunning, adding to the overall beauty of the location. For anyone looking for a great nude beach in British Columbia, Nipple Point Beach is definitely worth a visit. It’s one of those lesser-known Canadian nude beaches that offers a unique and relaxing experience. We highly recommend it, just be sure to stay safe around the train tracks and enjoy the stunning views of Bastion Mountain. Questions? Comments? Add your thoughts or photos below!

Getting There
Nipple Point Beach is located between Salmon Arm and Sicamous, just off the Trans-Canada Highway. The beach is relatively easy to find, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure a safe journey.
The walk is relatively easy, though carrying heavy gear might be challenging. Rocks on the trail can sometimes be slippery with slime and present a challenge.
By Car:
From Salmon Arm, head east on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1). Pass the Canoe Lumber Mill and set your odometer to zero. The beach access is approximately 2.9 km past the mill.
Look for two pullout areas on the side of the highway. The main beach access is at the second pullout, closer to Sicamous. Parking is limited, so arrive early to secure a spot.
After parking, proceed down the path and cross two sets of train tracks. Be extremely cautious of oncoming trains, as they pass frequently and can be very dangerous. Trains can also stop for extended periods of time on this section of track, meaning you could be stuck here for hours!
Once you cross the tracks, turn right and walk along the beach for 3-5 minutes to reach the main nudist area. Further north is more LGBTQ+ zone. If you see a cabin, you have gone too far.
By Public Transport:
There are no direct public transport options to Nipple Point Beach. The best way to reach the beach is by car from Salmon Arm.
