The Good
- Peaceful, rural, and scenic: The Palmer River in Quebec flows through a quiet valley in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, offering a calm, natural environment far removed from busy tourist areas.
- Beautiful river landscape: The river winds through forests, farmland, and gentle hills before joining the Bécancour River, creating a landscape that feels open, slow, and restorative. Truly one of the best secluded naturist spots in Quebec.
- Ideal for nature lovers: This is a place for walking, hiking nearby trails, fishing, photography, and quiet exploration, rather than structured recreation.
- Minimal development: The lack of heavy infrastructure keeps the area feeling authentic and untouched, which is part of its appeal.
The Bad
- Not a well known swimming destination: This is not a classic naturist swimming or beach spot. Water access is limited, uneven, and dependent on river levels.
- Confusing naming: There are multiple rivers named Palmer in Quebec and Labrador, which can cause confusion when planning a visit.
- No facilities: There are no toilets, picnic tables, or food services along the river itself.
- Seasonal limitations: Access and conditions vary with weather, snowmelt, and rainfall.
The Naked Truth
The Palmer River (Chaudière-Appalaches) near Le Camping De La Plage is a known local skinnydipping spot. It’s quiet countryside water; pretty to look at, good for walks, fishing, and photography, and best enjoyed slowly. If you’re expecting clear swimming holes, picnic lawns, or marked access points, you’ll be disappointed.
Nudity is more popular on some days rather than others. It’s rural Quebec with farms, roads, and locals nearby. The appeal is silence, landscape, and simplicity, not recreation. Go if you want calm and space; skip it if you want amenities or activities.
Insider Tip
Clarify which Palmer River you intend to visit before traveling. The Chaudière-Appalaches Palmer River is very different from the remote Palmer River associated with the Torngat Mountains.
