The Good

  • Authentic vibe: This pool feels less touristy and more like a local hangout. It’s tucked into the naturist village, so most people here are residents.
  • Rock shelters: Over time, people have built little stone “nests” above the pool to shield from Lanzarote’s infamous wind—they work surprisingly well.
  • Wild beauty: The pool fills naturally from the Atlantic, and at high tide, waves surge over the wall, creating a dramatic refill.

The Bad

  • Limited access: Parking is tricky because this spot is deep inside the village, so it’s easier if you’re staying nearby.
  • Slippery: The pool bottom is smoother than others but still slick - water shoes recommended.
  • No facilities: Expect nothing here. No bathrooms and the pool is even lacking handrails.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

This is the naturist experience Charco del Palo is known for - laid-back, raw, and social. No big crowds, no development, just a rugged pool hugged by volcanic rock. Everyone here is naked, and honestly, if you’re clothed, you’ll feel out of place. Don’t come here expecting facilities or shade; come for the calm water, sun-soaked rocks, and that freeing naturist vibe. Not to be confused with the more well known Piscina Natural Coloseo which is 300m away and has a better setup.

Our Visit

We wandered down in the late afternoon and quickly noticed a difference from the other pool Piscina Natural Coloseo which is 300m away. This one feels less polished, more wild - but that’s the charm. The pool itself is slightly smoother underfoot, but don’t be fooled it’s still very slippery. Water shoes saved us again.

It was windy (when is it not in Lanzarote?), but people have cleverly built rock “nests” along the top to block the gusts. We tucked into one, and it worked like a dream. From there, we had a perfect view of the pool, which had a steady flow of naturists. Everyone was nude - no exceptions - and honestly, clothed visitors looked a little awkward. A few even encouraged newcomers to “just strip and enjoy.”

Unlike the morning tranquility at Piscina Natural Coloseo, this spot had a lively vibe in the afternoon, with people chatting, sunbathing, and dipping in and out of the pool. We noticed small fish darting around in the clear water, and at times, waves surged through gaps in the wall, refreshing the pool with foamy Atlantic spray.

If you’re feeling bold, there’s another swimming access point further north along the cliffs, but be warned - the ocean here is fierce. It’s gorgeous for photos but dangerous for casual swimmers outside of the pools.

Getting There

This pool sits about 300 meters south of Piscina Natural Coloseo, inside the naturist village of Charco del Palo. If you’re staying in the village, it’s a quick, easy walk. Driving? There’s very limited parking, so plan on leaving your car near the main road and walking in.

By Car:
From Arrecife, it’s a 25-minute drive. Head toward Mala and follow signs to Charco del Palo. Once inside the village, parking gets tricky—spaces near this pool are almost nonexistent.

By Public Transport:
No direct buses reach the pool. Take a bus to Mala or Guatiza, then a short taxi ride (about 5 km) into Charco del Palo. Walking the last bit is easy if you’re traveling light.
