Nudity Policy
OPTIONALNudity allowed (official naturist zone)
The Good
- Expansive Atlantic shoreline: A long, wide stretch of sand backed by dunes and open sky. Stunning views, space to spread out, and a natural wild-coast atmosphere typical of southern Brittany.
- Official naturist beach: Naturism is permitted and well-accepted here, which is rare in Brittany. Nudists form the majority in the designated zone, especially away from the main access.
- Peaceful and uncrowded: Even in July and at high tide, the beach feels spacious and quiet. Plenty of room for sunbathing, walking, and enjoying solitude without crowd pressure.
- Pleasant swimming when calm: In good conditions the water is clear, the current manageable, and swimming feels safe and refreshing.
- Unique coastal character: WWII bunkers and sand-martin nests add visual and natural interest, giving a sense of history and wild ecology along the dunes.
The Bad
- Strong currents possible: The Atlantic surf can be powerful and unpredictable. Swimming may become dangerous in rough weather or with outgoing tides; no lifeguards.
- Mixed crowd reactions: Textiles and naturists normally coexist easily, but families with teens may find the nudist area awkward; occasional discomfort reported.
- Wind exposure: The beach is open and breezy; wind is common, though sand-blasting is usually mild thanks to the wide flat shoreline.
- No facilities: No toilets, showers, or food options. Visitors must bring everything and pack out waste.
- Parking fills quickly: Free lots near access points can fill at peak times; expect a short walk through dunes.
The Naked Truth
Plage de Kerminihy is one of Brittany’s rare officially naturist beaches in France, a wide, wild Atlantic shore where space, quiet, and nature dominate. Dunes roll behind you, surf stretches out in front, and the horizon feels uncluttered and endless.
Most visitors respect the naturist culture, and coexistence with textiles is calm and polite. Many come here specifically because it offers legal, peaceful nudity in a region where such spaces are limited.
This is not a resort beach: no amenities, no supervision, and nature sets the tone. Conditions change with weather and tide; calm mornings can become rough afternoons. When the wind drops and the ocean settles, it’s a beautiful swim and sunbathing destination. When the breeze rises or surf builds, it becomes a dramatic, elemental coastline perfect for walking and watching the sea.
Insider Tip
Bring water, food, and a towel for sitting, no infrastructure. Sunscreen and layers recommended; wind can be deceiving even on sunny days.
Who's Here
Naturists of all ages, relaxed textile visitors, couples, locals, and French vacationers. Generally quiet and respectful crowd. Popular with French families during school holidays.
Beach Surface
Soft sand, dunes behind, open surf in front. Occasional bunkers and natural bird activity. Wide intertidal zone with room to walk even at high tide.
Access Difficulty
Easy: flat walk from parking through dunes. Path sandy but manageable. Suitable for most visitors.
