The Good
- Scenic beauty: Wide stretch of soft white sand with turquoise water and rolling dunes. One of St. Barth’s most natural and unspoiled beaches.
- Peaceful and undeveloped: No buildings or beach clubs, just open views and calm surroundings. Great for those seeking quiet and space.
- Clothing-optional culture: Nudity is casually accepted, especially toward the far left end. Most visitors are relaxed and respectful.
- Clean, clear water: Excellent swimming conditions on calm days, with warm, inviting water.
- Easy to pair with dining: Two popular restaurants - L'Esprit and Le Tamarin sit near the parking area, perfect for a pre- or post-beach meal.
The Bad
- No facilities: There are no restrooms, showers, or beach rentals. Bring your own water, snacks, and shade.
- No natural shade: The beach is fully exposed to the sun; umbrellas and hats are a must.
- Windy at times: The open setting can get breezy, especially in the afternoon.
- Strong surf: Being on the Atlantic side, waves can be rough and currents strong on some days.
- Limited parking: The small lot can fill quickly during busy hours.
The Naked Truth
Plage de Saline is one of St. Barth’s most beautiful beaches; simple, quiet, and wild. It’s a place to relax, swim, and feel free without judgment. It regularly tops the list for the best naturist beach in the Caribbean.
Nudity isn’t official but has long been part of the beach’s culture, especially on the far left side where it’s more secluded.
There’s no shade, no lifeguards, and no shops; just soft sand, clear water, and open skies. Come prepared, respect the space, and you’ll find one of the island’s purest coastal spots.
Insider Tip
For more privacy and a clothing-optional crowd, walk left from the entrance toward the dunes. Visit early morning or late afternoon for calmer conditions and fewer people.
