The Good

  • Spacious and Quiet: Even during peak season, there’s plenty of space to spread out, thanks to the beach’s large size and its more remote location.
  • Beautiful Scenery: You’re treated to fantastic views, including the Canigou mountains, giving the beach a beautifully wild and untouched feeling.
  • Facilities: The beach offers showers and a water point, making it easier to rinse off after a day of sunbathing and swimming. Nearby restaurants are also available, along with lounger rentals.
  • Relaxed Atmosphere: The naturist section is welcoming, laid-back, and family-friendly, with a good mix of people.

The Bad

  • No Signage for Naturist Section: While it’s an official naturist beach, there are no clear signs on the beach itself to mark the naturist area, which can lead to some confusion for both naturists and textiles.
  • Windy Conditions: The beach is known for strong winds, and without dunes to block the gusts, it can make sunbathing less relaxing. Parasols often get knocked down or broken by the wind.
  • Challenging Access: The road to the beach is a bit rough, and the path from the parking lot down to the beach isn’t the easiest to walk.
  • Deep Water Close to Shore: The water gets deep quite quickly, which might not be ideal for families with younger kids or those who prefer shallower water.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Plage Naturiste de Torreilles offers a unique and natural beach experience along the French Mediterranean coast. It’s spacious, peaceful, and well-maintained, with beautiful views and a laid-back atmosphere. However, be prepared for windy conditions and bring your own parasol, as the wind can be unforgiving. The lack of clear signage for the naturist area might be a downside, but once you’re settled, it’s a fantastic spot to enjoy the sun and sea in a relaxed nude beach environment. Whether you’re a regular or new to a naturist beach, this beach provides an authentic and refreshing escape.

I went to Plage Naturiste de Torreilles with a friend, not really knowing what to expect but heard plenty of good things about the spot. The drive in was a bit rough—those narrow roads aren’t for the faint-hearted—but once we got there, parking was surprisingly easy with plenty of free spots available.

The beach itself is long but narrow, which gives it a bit of a wild, untouched feel. It reminded me of Serignan Plage, but without the commercial backdrop, which was a nice change. It’s great to have that natural, free vibe—away from the heavily built-up French nude beaches that sometimes lose their charm.

We'd heard some stories about the sand dunes being a hotspot for “hookups” back in the day, but it seems like that’s ancient history now. Thankfully, everything felt laid-back and respectful.

The crowd was a fun mix of older hippie types (probably been coming here since the ‘70s!) and younger families and couples, which gave it a refreshing energy. Everyone seemed at ease, and it was the kind of place where you could just relax without worrying about a thing. Obviously no one cares what you look like and the it would be a great first time nudie beach!

The sand, though, wasn’t exactly soft. It’s a bit rough on the feet, and the water drops off pretty quickly, so if you’re bringing kids, be mindful of them when they’re swimming. That said, the water was clear, and the beach felt like a true escape from the world.

We stayed most of the day, and for lunch, we walked up the beach to a nearby restaurant (highly recommended). It's the perfect break from the sun, especially with the wind picking up later in the afternoon. Speaking of amenities, the shower facilities after the beach were a huge bonus—perfect for freshening up and stocking up on water (have to supplement the French rosé on the beach somehow!). I heard you might find vendors here, but even on a busy summer weekend, we didn’t see anyone.

All in all, Plage Naturiste de Torreilles is a fantastic beach for those looking to unwind in nature. If you’re a fan of that wild, untouched feeling, this place is perfect for a peaceful escape.

Getting There

Finding Plage Naturiste de Torreilles is a pretty smooth experience, especially with the well-marked signs guiding you from the main roads. Once you hit Torreilles, the journey gets a bit more scenic. You'll pass by a few local spots, and though the roads become narrower, the drive is manageable. The parking is free and located close to the beach, so you won’t have to hike too far—just about 5 to 10 minutes on foot. It’s a straightforward walk from the parking area, with nature surrounding you.

By Car: Drive to the roundabout on the D81, located to the west of Torreilles-Plage. From there, follow the signs for "Torreilles-Plage" and take the first right after you pass the sign for the town. Keep following the small white signs that say "Plage naturiste." You’ll pass a few local businesses like “A la Bonne Poutine” and “Le Jardin” restaurant. Continue straight for about 700 meters, then turn left when you see the signs for "Plage Sud" and "Plage naturiste." Drive another 1.3 km to reach the large, free parking area. From here, it's an easy 5 to 10-minute walk to the naturist beach.

By Public Transport: Public transport options to Plage Naturiste de Torreilles are limited, but you can take a bus from Perpignan or nearby towns and get off at Torreilles-Plage. From there, follow the road signs for "Plage Sud" or "Plage naturiste." Be prepared for a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest bus stop to the beach, which is mostly flat and well-signposted.

Recommended Accommodation

Perpignan offers plenty of accommodation, but if you're after a peaceful beach escape, nothing beats staying at a seaside campground or guesthouse.
