Nudity expected but optional (official naturist zone established by FFN/AGABS)

The Good

  • Huge, peaceful naturist beach: Vast, wide, and deeply natural. You can always find a quiet space, even on busy days. Fine sand, endless horizon, and no commercial noise; just fresh sea air and calm.
  • Warm, relaxing atmosphere: Long-established naturist culture with families, couples, regulars, and respectful visitors. People sunbathe, walk, relax: no pressure, no judgment.
  • Beautiful dunes & sunset views: Dunes offer shelter on windy days (steep but scenic), and sunsets here in summer are spectacular. A soft, golden light spreads across the entire landscape.
  • Walking paradise: Excellent for long beach walks, especially at low tide when the beach becomes enormous. Cyclists also ride along the hard-packed sand.

The Bad

  • Voyeurs & dune misuse: Multiple reports of men hiding or lingering in dunes. Some sexual activity observed near dune paths; unsettling for families and newcomers.
  • Textile passers-by: Because the naturist zone sits between two textile areas, clothed walkers frequently pass by. Usually harmless, but bothers some naturists.
  • Low-tide limitations: During low tide, the sea goes extremely far out; swimming becomes impossible and the walk to the water can feel long.
  • Parking congestion: Free parking fills fast in good weather; weekends can be difficult.
  • No facilities: No toilets, no showers, few bins. Bring your own water, snacks, and essentials.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Plage Naturiste de Berck is a classic Northern France naturist beach; open, spacious, easygoing, and shaped by decades of naturist presence thanks to the French Naturist Federation (FFN) / AGABS, who established it in 1981.

Everyone minds their own business; the essence of naturism. But the dunes tell another story: occasional voyeurism or men watching from ridges. Many regulars recommend reaching the naturist area via the textile beach, not through the dunes, to avoid any discomfort.

Despite this, the beach itself; open, sunlit, and natural, remains a gem for those who know where to settle. Visit on a busy weekend if unsure.

Insider Tip

Skip the dunes entirely. Enter via Les Sablons or Chemin des Anglais, walk along the textile beach, then turn right into the naturist zone; much safer and more peaceful. Stay nearer the open sand, not the dune edge, if you want to avoid watchers.

Who's Here

Couples, families, longtime naturists, solo visitors, many local regulars. Also a noticeable number of lone men in dunes and mixed-use pockets; more parity on the open beach. Busy on warm weekends; calmer mid-season.

Beach Surface

Fine sand, vast tidal flats, clean water, war-ruin remains, mussel beds offshore, and sheltered dune pockets. Sand can be wind-blown; sea retreats far at low tide.

Access Difficulty

Easy if approached from the textile shoreline; moderate and uncomfortable if crossing the dunes. Parking closes but fills early. No shade.

Getting There

Located north of Berck-Plage, between Berck and Merlimont.

By Car: Drive to Chemin des Anglais in Berck-Plage. This is the correct access road for the naturist zone. You’ll find free parking areas and roadside spaces along this stretch. From the parking, walk straight onto the textile beach, then head north toward Merlimont for a few minutes until you reach the marked naturist section.

By Public Transport: Take a bus to Berck-Plage town center, then walk north along the beachfront promenade and continue on foot toward the naturist zone. The beach path is long but flat and scenic; dunes are optional and best avoided.
