The Good
- Long and lively coastline: A 3-kilometer sweep of fine golden sand bordering the Maspalomas Dunes Nature Reserve. Great for walks, sunbathing, and people-watching. The dunes is also where you can find one of the best naturist sections in Gran Canaria.
- Full range of services: Lifeguards, sunbed rentals (€7.50 for two with umbrella), beach bars, showers, and changing rooms. Plenty of restaurants and shops just steps away along the Paseo Costa Canaria promenade.
- Easy access for all: Flat approach, gentle slope into the sea, and lifeguard supervision make it family-friendly. Water sports zones for surfing, windsurfing, and jet skiing add energy to the scene.
- Freedom and coexistence: Designated naturist section near the dunes coexists smoothly with textile areas. You can find a spot to fit any mood - quiet relaxation or social buzz.
- All-day sun and breeze: Hot most of the year with a steady Atlantic wind that keeps it comfortable even at midday. Beautiful blue water and endless views toward Maspalomas.
The Bad
- Can be windy and crowded: Afternoons bring gusts and sand blow; midday crowds build around bars and water-sport stations. Calmer mornings recommended.
- Persistent hawkers: Beach vendors offering fruit, massages, and souvenirs can be relentless; a firm “no” usually needed.
- Mixed nudism boundaries: Nudists often extend beyond the marked 500 m zone near the dunes; families should stay closer to the jet-ski area or main access points.
- Toilets limited: Few facilities directly on the sand; those at the promenade charge a fee. Showers may lack water pressure at day’s end.
- Urban feel: Backed by resorts and bars, so not a secluded or wild beach like Maspalomas; atmosphere leans touristic and lively rather than remote.
The Naked Truth
Playa del Inglés is the social heart of Gran Canaria’s southern coast - wide, sunny, and alive from morning till night. It has space for everyone: families under umbrellas, surfers near the waves, and naturists by the dune edge. While the surroundings feel urban and busy, the beach itself is impeccably clean and great for long walks or easy swims.
Naturism here is well integrated into the island’s open-minded culture. Expect a mix of textile and non-textile visitors sharing space without tension. Those seeking calm head east toward the Maspalomas stretch; those seeking energy stay near the bars and sports zones. It’s not a postcard cove - but it delivers classic Canarian sun, friendly faces, and a warm, casual vibe. The beach is also close to Playa de Maspalomas which is walkable.
Insider Tip
Arrive before 10 a.m. to find parking and calm conditions. For naturism, walk east toward the dunes (around kiosk 6). If you want a quiet day, stay mid-morning before winds pick up.
Who's Here
Families, European tourists, LGBTQ+ visitors, naturists, and locals. Active crowd by day, party-oriented by night near the Yumbo Centre area.
Beach Surface
Fine golden sand, gentle slope into calm blue water, some stonier patches at low tide. Backed by boardwalks and resorts. Occasional seaweed and breeze but generally very clean.
Access Difficulty
Easy: flat from promenade and hotel zones; wheelchair access to within meters of shore at main entrances. Long walk to the naturist part if entering from the Faro side.
