The Good
- Beautiful Baltic setting: Rosenfelder Strand sits directly on the Baltic Sea, surrounded by wide open views, clean air, and peaceful countryside. The beach stretches for about 1.5 km, offering space to swim, sunbathe, or walk without crowds. Sunrise views here are especially memorable - locals mention watching the horizon light up alongside flocks of birds and wild hares.
- Naturist-friendly and family-oriented: It’s the only naturist campsite on Germany’s Baltic coast, designed to make naturism feel natural and inclusive.
- Top-notch facilities: Visitors consistently praise the modern, spotless bathrooms, hot showers, and well-equipped washing areas for both dishes and laundry.
- Great food and supplies: The on-site supermarket is well-stocked with fresh bread and essentials, while the restaurant serves reasonably priced meals made from quality ingredients.
- Relaxed biking and day trips: The surrounding region of East Holstein is perfect for cycling, with scenic routes connecting Rosenfelder Strand to small seaside villages and nature reserves. It's truly one of the best naturist beaches in Germany.
The Bad
- Busy in summer: Because it’s one of the few naturist campsites in northern Germany, it gets crowded in July and August. Advance reservations are strongly recommended.
- Patchy Wi-Fi: Internet coverage is unreliable, especially in the tent zones and forested areas.
- Cash only: The shops and restaurants don’t accept credit cards, so bring cash. The nearest ATM is 3-5 km away.
- Rocky seabed: You’ll need water shoes for comfortable swimming, as the shore and shallow waters have stones and pebbles.
- Noise in the Z-Zone: The tent area near the playground can be noisy at night, especially during weekends or holidays. Families seeking quiet may prefer other zones.
The Naked Truth
Rosenfelder Strand offers a rare combination of naturist freedom and full comfort. It’s a place where you can walk directly from your camper or caravan onto a long, clothing-optional beach framed by gentle waves and wild coastal landscapes. Everything about the site feels well-organized yet unpretentious - clean facilities, friendly staff, and a calm community spirit that makes newcomers feel at home.
The naturist aspect here isn’t just tolerated; it’s celebrated. Families, couples, and solo travelers alike enjoy the open atmosphere, whether they’re sunbathing on the beach, cycling through coastal trails, or sharing a casual meal at the restaurant. The beach itself feels safe and easygoing, with clear, shallow water and lifeguards in summer.
Insider Tip
Bring cash - cards are not accepted on-site. For quieter nights, avoid the Z-zone near the playground.
