- Waste management issues: Some visitors mention trash build-up, especially after mid-August when the crowds rise. Maintenance can lag behind the season’s influx.
- Overpriced for what it offers: In high season, umbrellas can cost €60–80 per day, and restaurant bills may come with surprise surcharges.
- Few shaded spots and basic services: Bring your own umbrella and water; some areas have no lifeguard or clear signage.

Spiaggia della Commenda is one of those naturist Italy beaches that perfectly captures the real Puglia; dazzling sea, golden dunes, and a mix of charm and chaos. It’s not luxurious, but it’s undeniably beautiful. While the beach scene has become more commercial, the natural beauty remains intact. You’ll find stretches that still feel wild, especially toward the dunes, but come prepared for some imperfections: wind, crowding, and uneven upkeep.
Despite its flaws, regulars return year after year for the same reason that blinding blue sea and the slow, sun-drenched rhythm of southern Italy.

Getting There
Spiaggia della Commenda is in Campomarino di Maruggio, about 55 km from Taranto or 70 km from Brindisi.
By Car: Follow SS7ter to Maruggio, then local roads toward the coast. In summer, arrive early; parking fills fast.
By Bus: From San Petro de Beviagna, ride the Manduria - Capolinea Ina Case and walk for about 1 min to hop on the bus Maruggio - Via Roma 113 Dir. Taranto. After that, walk for about 9-10 minutes to reach the beach.
