The Good

  • Designated FKK lakeside: This is one of the few clearly accepted naturist zones around Zurich. It sits just outside the main Strandbad, making it easy to access while still feeling separate.
  • Calm freshwater swimming: The water is part of Greifensee, which is still and gentle compared to ocean beaches. It’s ideal for relaxed swimming and floating rather than waves or currents.
  • Quiet natural setting: Once you step away from the Strandbad, the atmosphere shifts immediately. It becomes quieter, more open, and surrounded by reeds and trees.
  • Space to spread out: The grassy shoreline allows people to naturally space themselves. Even on good days, it rarely feels cramped.
  • Mixed sun and shade: Trees along the edge provide natural shade if you don’t want to stay in direct sun all day.
  • Low key respectful crowd: The vibe is typically relaxed and respectful, with regulars who understand the naturist culture without making it feel forced.

The Bad

  • No direct facilities: There are no toilets, food, or services in the FKK section itself. You need to walk back toward the Strandbad if needed.
  • Subtle boundaries: There are no strong markers showing where the naturist area begins, which can feel unclear for first time visitors.
  • Lake water limitations: The water can feel cooler and less “refreshing” compared to sea swimming, and visibility is more muted than coastal beaches.
  • Mosquito presence: Being near reeds and still water, insects can be noticeable, especially later in the day.
  • Not visually dramatic: The setting is peaceful but not striking. It’s more about calm than scenery.
  • Occasional clothed passersby: Since it’s along a public path, you may see people walking through or nearby who are not part of the naturist area.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Strandbad Niederuster FKK is an easygoing lakeside naturist spot rather than a big destination in its own right. The main Strandbad can be busy, but once you move into the FKK area the atmosphere becomes noticeably quieter and more relaxed.

There’s plenty of grass to spread out on, easy access to the lake and a very low-key crowd. Naturism here feels completely normal rather than organised or formal, which is probably the biggest appeal.

It’s not somewhere we’d travel across Switzerland specifically to visit, but if you’re near Zurich and want a simple, established place to swim and sunbathe nude, it does the job very well. It is a great nude beach in Zurich that is worth a visit.

Insider Tip

Use Strandbad Niederuster for parking and facilities, then walk north along the shoreline to find the naturist section. Bring everything you need for the day and consider insect repellent, especially in the evening.

Who's Here

Mostly local naturists, regulars, and a mix of relaxed individuals who prefer quiet over social scenes.

Beach Surface

Grassy shoreline with soft lake entry and some muddy or natural patches near the water.

Access Difficulty

Easy since it’s a short walk from the main Strandbad, though the naturist area itself has no formal entrance.
