The Good

  • Beautiful Scenery: The beach boasts stunning golden sand and clear, calm waters. The surrounding dunes provide a picturesque backdrop and a sense of seclusion.
  • Spacious and Safe: With nearly a kilometer of naturist-friendly shoreline, there's plenty of space to spread out. The gentle slope into the sea makes it safe and ideal for swimming and paddling.
  • Accessibility: Despite being somewhat remote, the beach is accessible via a short walk from multiple parking areas, and public transport options are available.
  • Facilities: There are basic amenities such as toilets and sometimes a mobile vendor selling drinks and snacks. The nearby Knoll Beach also has additional facilities and a café.
  • Friendly Atmosphere: The beach is known for its relaxed, welcoming vibe, with a mix of naturists and textiles coexisting peacefully.

The Bad

  • Crowded: During peak times, especially on weekends, the beach can become quite crowded, and parking spaces fill up quickly.
  • Lack of Shade: There is no natural shade on the beach, so bringing an umbrella or beach shelter is essential.
  • Strict Rules: Nudity is only allowed on the beach itself, not in the dunes, and the area is patrolled to enforce these rules. So make sure you're naked in the right area!
  • Mixed Use: Despite being a designated naturist beach, there are often a lot of textiles present, which might detract from the naturist experience for some visitors.

The Naked Truth

Studland Naturist Beach is a true gem on the Dorset coast, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a nude dip. The golden sands and clear waters are simply stunning and make for an excellent day of sunbathing and swimming, though be aware that the water can be quite cold early in the season and the naturist season doesn't last long. Yes, it can get a bit crowded, especially on weekends, and you'll need to come prepared with your own shade. But the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere more than makes up for it. Whether you're a seasoned naturist or just curious, Studland is the perfect spot to let it all hang out and enjoy the beauty of nature.

We spent a brilliant weekend at Studland Naturist Beach, and it was an experience to remember. My girlfriend and I decided to visit for the first time, and we were immediately taken by the golden sands and clear, calm waters. The beach is just gorgeous, nestled among picturesque dunes that offer a sense of seclusion and tranquility.

Since it was the weekend, the beach was quite busy, but there was still enough space for everyone. We found a nice spot, set up our towels and umbrella (definitely a must, as there's no natural shade), and took in the scene. There was a good mix of naturists and textiles, but everyone was there to enjoy the sun and sea. It was mostly men, but there were plenty of women too, all comfortably naked. Seeing everyone so relaxed made us feel comfortable enough to join in.

One of the highlights was an ice cream vendor who came by boat. It was such a treat to wade out and grab some refreshing ice cream—it added a fun, unique touch to the day! The atmosphere was really laid-back and friendly, which made it easy to just unwind and enjoy ourselves.

We ended up chatting with a few regulars who were very protective of the beach. They told us how much they loved it and shared some great tips. They mentioned that access to the beach has improved a lot thanks to a new footpath. Apparently, the National Trust has done a fab job making it easier to get to the naturist section, which was great to hear.

Walking along the shore, we dipped our toes in the clear, cool water. It’s perfect for swimming, and the gentle slope into the sea made it easy to wade in. The beach really has a special charm, with its soft sand and beautiful surroundings. At nearly a kilometre long, Studland Naturist Beach is one of the most popular UK nude beaches to bare it all. Fun fact: this beach even featured in Coldplay's music video for "Yellow."

Overall, our time at Studland Naturist Beach was just what we needed to relax and enjoy nature. The friendly community, stunning scenery, and fun touches like the ice cream boat made it a standout experience. If you're ever in Dorset, this beach is a must-visit for anyone looking to unwind and embrace the naturist lifestyle.

Getting There

The beach is well-signposted, and the walk is relatively easy, though carrying heavy gear might be challenging. The new footpath installed by the National Trust has made access much easier, ensuring a smoother journey from the car park to the beach. Once you arrive, you’ll find clear signs marking the start of the naturist section.

By Car: From Bournemouth, take the Sandbanks Ferry across Poole Harbour to Studland. Once you disembark, follow Ferry Road for about 2 miles until you reach the National Trust car park at Knoll Beach. If you prefer to avoid the ferry, drive via Wareham and Corfe Castle, following signs to Studland. Be aware that road parking fills up quickly, especially on weekends, so it’s a good idea to arrive early.

By Public Transport: From Bournemouth, take the train to Poole, then catch the Breezer Bus 50 to Studland, which includes a ride on the Sandbanks Ferry. The bus stops near Knoll Beach, from where it’s a nice walk to the naturist area. Be sure to check bus schedules in advance, as service intervals can vary.
