The Good
- Very laidback beach. Despite being small it rarely gets busy, even on a summer weekend
- Crystal clear lake water is refreshing and the beach is kept clean
- Lots of areas to sit and even though the sand is coarse it's still very comfortable. There are also plenty of shaded areas
- Great place for nude beach first-timers - the beach is secluded and the regulars here are welcoming
The Bad
- Car parking can be hard to find. Residents here are also aggressive about people parking on their private property (you will see lots of handwritten signs!)
- The lake water can be very chilly at the start of spring and summer
- No bathroom facilities or nearby food options
The Naked Truth
Three Mile Beach is batting well above it's average in this part of the world. There is a group of regulars who ensure this place is well looked after and safe for everyone. The beach is one of the best on the lake, add to that the fact you can go 'au naturale' here - it's perfection. Enjoy the crystal clear lake water and maybe take a dip to refresh after some wine tasting. Highly recommended!
Insider Tip
Grab a bottle of wine and snacks to enjoy in the afternoon sun on the beach. Locals will welcome you into the drum circle at sunset if that is your thing
Who's Here
Very passionate but friendly local regulars who have adopted the beach and welcome newcomers. Also curious local tourists dropping by for a quick swim
Beach Surface
Rough sand on the beach. Sand + pebbles in the water
Access Difficulty
Easy. A short 200m walk along the beach

Our Visit

Nude Beach Map. Visited 2023
We weren't sure what to expect when we visited Penticton's Three Mile Beach on a mildly hot day. British Columbia has some amazing nude beaches but this one in the Okanagan rarely gets a mention. After wine tasting we thought we'd give it a shot and see if the beach was still 'nude' or had been taken over by textiles - there aren't many reviews online. What we found however is a very chill local beach that is frequently visited by locals and occasionally by curious tourists.

The small stretch of beach on Okanagan Lake is mainly occupied by nudists towards the end of the beach, furthest away from the parking lot. This part of the beach is a little more private and also provides some shaded sections. When we arrived we were welcomed by the locals, who asked if we wanted to join a drum circle later and seemed very keen for a chat. However we were exhausted from wine tasting and wanted a more low key experience - which they respected. It is a great spot for laying in the sun and gets barely any foot traffic. The busier non-nude dog beach is to the left of the road and gets the majority of the traffic.
Three Mile Beach is a perfect spot to break up the wine tasting and get back to nature. It is surrounded by wineries and lots of B&B options if that's your thing. There aren't any restaurants or supplies nearby, so you'll need to pack everything in & out. Local wineries probably have what you need for a picnic and even though drinking on the beach isn't allowed, it is tolerated by locals. Wesbert Wineries is the closest and great pick, they also sell takeout pizzas.
The beach is in great condition and unlike other parts of the lake it feels very secluded, a world away from the busy camping areas setup opposite the beach. Beware the lake water is very chilly here at the start of the year but becomes much more enjoyable as summer progresses. The city regularly brings in fresh sand for the beach, even so, the rocky shoreline is normally comfortable enough without it. Boats don't normally frequent this area of the lake either.
The only downside is the lack of parking. There is only about a dozen spots and locals are aggressive about visitors parking on their property - so beware of the consequences if you try that! Most people are here to visit the dog beach to the left of the road. Thankfully locals visiting the non-nude beach also don't stay too long, so you might be in luck if you're patient enough to wait for a spot.
Three Mile Beach is highly recommended, and if you love wine like us - bonus. It's the best place for a post wine tour afternoon nap! The majority of the people are nude here and it's family friendly. A perfect tranquil and clean spot that is easily accessed. Enjoy.

Nude Accommodations
Getting There
Three Mile Beach is an easy 5min drive from downtown Penticton. Follow Naramata Rd until you see Wesbert Winery and then take the next left down Three Mile Rd to the end. There is probably parking here for a dozen cars.
The nude beach is to the right down the stairs at the end of the road. To the left is the much busier non-nude dog beach, which is especially busy on weekend mornings.
