Velanio Beach is on the eastern side of Skopelos, a short distance from one of the busier beaches on the island. Nearby Stafilos beach is very popular since it is very close to Skopelos Town and has limited parking during the peak season (July/August). To reach Velanio, you will have to cross Stafilos by foot and follow the trail over the rocks on the far side.

Surrounded by crystal clear waters and the sound of cicadas, this is truly a welcome Mediterranean experience and worth the walk! Greece has a lot of nude beaches but the vibe in this part of the country is truly unique.
Velanio beach itself is divided into two parts. The first part that you will reach has a few loungers and a beach bar, the nudist part is on the other side of a large boulder that divides the beach in two. On the naturist side, you will be greeted by peace and calm. The beach is virtually uncontaminated by human activity, and it feels extremely natural. It is nice and wide – giving everyone their space. Beachgoers may even choose to locate themselves towards the back of the beach where you can find shade in the large pine trees overhanging the rocks.
I think that the nudist part of Velanio is a great introductory naturist beach for newbies. There are barely ever any crowds and you will experience the combination of freedom, being in touch with nature as well as some privacy.
From my experience the regulars are mostly older couples, and everyone is minding their own business.
Velanio is the first and only beach to be declared a nudist beach on the island. Of course there are other locations on the island but this one has the official stamp from Town Council! It is hoped that the official designation means more tourists to the island. If you feel like swimming without clothes, you can explore other non-official locations on the island. Like the the rocks adjacent to Milia beach or follow the dirt road and trail to Pethamenis beach just outside Glossa village.
Every year that I visit the island I discover upgrades at almost every beach. Maybe next year there will be restrooms or even a cocktail bar (pun intended)
