Our Visit

Vera Playa is not just a nudist beach but a full-fledged naturist village, complete with bars, restaurants, and plenty of accommodation options. Many people refer to Vera Playa as one of the best naturist destinations in Europe, with some living here full-time or returning year after year. The dedication to naturist living as a lifestyle rather than just a vacation experience is quite remarkable. The community vibe is strong, with certain roads being naturist-friendly. While the average age is well above 50 during the off-season, there's a more mixed age range during the summer months (July and August).

We were blown away by the sheer size of the beach and the variety of food and drink options available. It's fascinating that Vera Playa is connected to a standard beach, with the level of nudity ranging from fully nude in the north to fully clothed towards the south. In Spain, nudity on beaches is fully legal, and at Vera Playa, there are no physical barriers separating the naturist area from the clothed area. Simply take a left when you reach the boardwalk, and you'll find the naturist section.
Most places around Vera Playa are naturist-friendly, meaning you can choose your level of nudity. This creates a relaxed atmosphere where everyone is comfortable. Our favorite spot for a drink is the Pirate Bar, while Oh La Lais a great naturist spot just a block from the beach.
You can easily spend your entire stay in Vera Playa, but there are also great tourist options nearby. The next beach south is Garrucha, which boasts numerous restaurants and hosts the incredible Routa de la Tapa week in April, a tapas festival featuring over 30 restaurants offering special tapas paired with a drink for €4. Another nearby destination is Mojacar Playa or the charming village of Mojacar Pueblo, which offers stunning coastal views, a castle (under renovation), and plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars.
To save money and still get plenty of sunshine, consider visiting during the mid-season (March/April). We booked an apartment with access to a heated indoor pool, which was usually almost empty, making our stay very enjoyable. If you're looking for a more relaxed vibe and want to avoid the tourist crowds, this is a great option. As a younger, darker-skinned woman, we felt surprisingly comfortable in Vera Playa. Walking around the apartment complex nude is optional, rather than compulsory, which adds to the overall relaxed atmosphere.
Vera Playa offers a unique and inclusive naturist experience that is hard to find elsewhere. Whether you're a seasoned naturist or trying it for the first time, this destination provides a welcoming and laid-back environment for everyone.
